2025 Term 2 Week 8
Prayer for Our First Holy Communion Students
We hold our First Holy Communion students in our thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive this sacred sacrament this weekend.
Loving God,
We ask your blessing upon these children as they prepare for their First Holy Communion. May they come to know your presence more deeply, grow in faith and love, and carry your light in all they do. Guide them on their journey and surround them with your grace.
We extend our warmest wishes to each child and their family as they share in this joyful and meaningful celebration.

Each class teacher will select two students to present at the School Speak-Off on Tuesday, August 5 in the School Hall.
-
Following adjudication, two students from each year level will be chosen to represent St Joseph’s at the Northern Region Competition on Friday, August 22.
Classroom teachers will provide students with further information and support in preparing for this exciting opportunity.
St Joseph's Regional Chess Team
We’re excited to announce that St Joseph’s will be sending THREE chess teams to the Regional Play-Offs next Friday, 27th June!
A big thank you to the families who submitted an expression of interest earlier in the year. We look forward to seeing our students showcase their strategic thinking and sportsmanship at this exciting event.
Best of luck to our chess team!
Punctuality Matters
Recently, I’ve taken the opportunity to review student attendance and punctuality across the school. While we understand that there are special circumstances that may occasionally prevent students from arriving on time, we kindly ask all families to make a concerted effort to ensure children arrive before the 9:05 am bell each day.
Our school mornings are carefully structured to maximise learning time:
-
Kindergarten to Year 2 begin their Literacy Program immediately after the bell.
-
Years 3 to 6 start their day with the Spelling Mastery Program.
Being on time ensures students can settle into the day calmly and engage fully in their learning. We appreciate your support in helping establish strong routines and a positive start to each school day.
Please refer to the brochure below for further insight into how even being just 10 minutes late each day can significantly impact your child’s overall attendance and learning.
Developing good routines and arriving on time each day helps set students up for success—every minute of learning matters!
Let's work together to make punctuality a consistent habit for all!
Assembly – 1 Blue
We’ve seen some exciting and entertaining assemblies recently, and we’re looking forward to 1 Blue’s assembly this Friday!
I’ve had a little sneak preview—and I can assure you, it’s well worth the ticket! We can’t wait to see their creativity and confidence on display.

Canteen News
Volunteers most welcome, please email the canteen canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au
Our school canteen is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Orders need to be placed by Qkr! before 8:30am on the day of order.
Whilst we understand accidents happen it does place a large strain on our canteen and office staff to assist in these situations.
To try to avoid this, please follow some of the steps below:
- How to order – place your order using the Qkr! app or write on a paper bag and send the order in with your child.
- Order on the app and confirm the date that you have selected is for the day you require.
- If your child is selecting the food please check it before you confirm the order (we now need to limit garlic bread to students as some were ordering up to 10 in one order)
- If your child is absent and no longer is required to receive the order please cancel prior to 8:30am on the day of order.
You can receive a Qkr credit note if you tap on the 3 lines at the top left of the home screen, select ‘my receipts’ and then select the order you wish to cancel. - If your child doesn’t have a lunch and they realise before 10:00am a phone call will be made to parents to ask them to bring lunch to school for them.
If you are unable we will provide your child with a basic sandwich (vegemite or cheese) and an IOU envelope will be sent home. - IOU’s - if your child brings home an IOU envelope please either return the envelope with cash payment or alternatively you can pay for it via Qkr using the “Canteen Outstanding Amounts”
- If you are unaware of the amount currently outstanding to your child please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au and we can advise.
- There is a limit of $10 for over the counter purchases. Please do not send your child in with more than this as we will not accept $50 or $20 notes.
If you need to contact the school about lunch orders, please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au or contact the school office 4821 3510 before 9:30 am.
If you are able to volunteer in the canteen please contact the office or email the canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au with your availability.

Community Council Meeting
A magical family theatre event these July School Holidays at Goulburn Performing Arts Centre!
SPECIAL REPORT: Celebrating NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to recognise and learn more about the history and culture of Indigenous communities.
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced back to the Aboriginal rights movement, when on Australia Day 1938, protestors marched through the streets of Sydney to highlight the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Today, it is a week-long celebration held in July that consists of range of traditional and contemporary activities.
NAIDOC Week is an important event that helps build positive relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. It enables a deeper understanding of our differences and similarities and is a great opportunity for all Australians to eliminate bias and discrimination by reflecting and reconciling the wrongs of the past to facilitate hope and build a fairer future. Families are encouraged to join in and support young people in learning the significance of NAIDOC Week.
This Special Report offers suggestions on how families can celebrate NAIDOC Week together. We hope you take a moment to reflect on the information offered, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please seek medical or professional help.
