    Principal's Message

    Dear Parents & Carers,

This Friday, I will join our Year 6 students and staff in taking part in the Mini Vinnies Winter Sleepout. This experience serves as a powerful reminder of the many individuals and families in our Goulburn community who face the harsh reality of homelessness and hardship — especially during the cold winter months. Let us take a moment to reflect and pray for them.

    Loving God,
As we gather in the warmth of our homes and school,
we remember those in our Goulburn community
who are without shelter, comfort, or security.

Help us to be compassionate and generous,
to open our hearts and hands
to those who struggle through the cold of winter.
Bless those who work to bring hope, food, and care
to the most vulnerable among us.

May our actions, big or small,
reflect your love and light in the lives of others.
    Amen.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Cady for organising the Mini Vinnies Sleepout and to the students and staff involved for their compassion and commitment to supporting others.

Celebrating Culture, Leadership, and Milestones at St Joseph’s

Tomorrow, a group of our Year 6 students and Indigenous students will proudly represent St Joseph’s at the Regional NAIDOC Mass. This special celebration brings together schools from across the region to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and spirituality within our Catholic tradition. It is a powerful opportunity for our students to stand in unity, reflect on the importance of reconciliation, and pray together as a broader faith community.

This Friday, we are excited to officially welcome our new Semester 2 Student Representative Council (SRC) members from across all primary classes. These students have volunteered to take on an important leadership role, representing the voices of their peers and working together to help improve our school community.

We sincerely thank each of them for putting their hand up to serve — whether it’s gathering class feedback, supporting school-wide initiatives, or helping to build school spirit, their willingness to contribute is greatly appreciated. Leadership is about action, responsibility, and service, and we look forward to seeing these students grow in confidence as they take on this role.

We would also like to express our thanks to Mrs. Walsh, who continues to guide and mentor our SRC members. Her support ensures students are given meaningful leadership opportunities that help them develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and decision-making.

We look forward to working with our Semester 2 SRC and seeing the positive contributions they will make in the weeks ahead. Congratulations to all students involved!

We’ll also be celebrating the 100 Days of Kindergarten — a joyful milestone recognising the learning, growth, and resilience of our youngest students. It’s sure to be a day full of smiles, celebration, and fun “100-day” activities!
Next Tuesday will also be a particularly special and busy day, filled with meaningful celebrations and student milestones. We will come together as a school to celebrate the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, a reminder of our shared values of faith, service, and resilience.

Also on Tuesday, we will hold our Year 3–6 Public Speaking presentations. Students have been working hard to prepare speeches, and each class will select representatives to present on behalf of their peers. This is a valuable opportunity for students to grow in confidence, develop their speaking skills, and share their voice on a range of topics. We commend all students for their preparation and effort in the lead-up to this event.

These events reflect the vibrant spirit of St Joseph’s and our commitment to nurturing student voice, cultural understanding, and community connection.

St Joseph’s Gets Involved in National Tree Planting Day

    IMG_7163IMG_7162IMG_7164IMG_7167

Last Friday St Joseph’s Primary School Goulburn proudly took part in National Tree Planting Day. We were honoured to welcome Mayor Nina Dillon and Councillor Jason Shepherd to our school, who joined our school leaders, students and staff in planting a native Banksia tree on our grounds.

National Tree Planting Day is a nationwide call to action that encourages all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to their communities through caring for the environment. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with nature and contribute to a greener future.

A special thank you to Mayor Dillon and Councillor Shepherd for their support and for helping make this event so meaningful for our school.

Book Fair & Costume Parade – 15 Sleeps to Go!

    Canteen News

Volunteers most welcome, please email the canteen canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au

Our school canteen is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Orders need to be placed by Qkr! before 8:30am on the day of order.

Whilst we understand accidents happen it does place a large strain on our canteen and office staff to assist in these situations.

To try to avoid this, please follow some of the steps below:

    • How to order – place your order using the Qkr! app or write on a paper bag and send the order in with your child.
    • Order on the app and confirm the date that you have selected is for the day you require.
    • If your child is selecting the food please check it before you confirm the order (we now need to limit garlic bread to students as some were ordering up to 10 in one order)
    • If your child is absent and no longer is required to receive the order please cancel prior to 8:30am on the day of order.
You can receive a Qkr credit note if you tap on the 3 lines at the top left of the home screen, select ‘my receipts’ and then select the order you wish to cancel.
    • If your child doesn’t have a lunch and they realise before 10:00am a phone call will be made to parents to ask them to bring lunch to school for them.
If you are unable we will provide your child with a basic sandwich (vegemite or cheese) and an IOU envelope will be sent home.
    • IOU’s - if your child brings home an IOU envelope please either return the envelope with cash payment or alternatively you can pay for it via Qkr using the “Canteen Outstanding Amounts”
    • If you are unaware of the amount currently outstanding to your child please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au and we can advise.
    • There is a limit of $10 for over the counter purchases. Please do not send your child in with more than this as we will not accept $50 or $20 notes.

If you need to contact the school about lunch orders, please email canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au or contact the school office 4821 3510 before 9:30 am.

If you are able to volunteer in the canteen please contact the office or email the canteen.sjglb@cg.catholic.edu.au with your availability.

    Goulburn & District Cricket Community

In another great opportunity for the Goulburn & District Cricket Community, Cricket NSW are bringing a FREE Cricket Clinic to Goulburn and are combining with one of Australian Cricket greatest players, Nathan Lyon, to bring a unique experience to the area.

In August, fresh off a series win in the West Indies, Nathan will support local Cricket NSW staff  with a FREE clinic at Seifert Oval.

The clinic will be combined with a once in a lifetime experience to delve into the career of one of our greats, and Nathan and his team will outline what you’ll need to progress in your sports career.  Targeting families and young players, the seminar will outline both on and off field essentials.

See attached flyers for both the Cricket Clinic and the informal night session with Nathan Lyon.
